Cutting on the line (free Montessori template)
Hi! Introducing scissors in the Children's House is always an exciting time. After loads of practical life experience I first present 'snippets'. I take long strips of paper that are left over from cutting construction paper, metal inset paper, and store them in a basket behind a tray. The tray holds a pair of scissors, these are my favorite, and a small basket for snippets.
After showing how to hold the scissors, the child is invited to cut snippets however they like. They are then invited to put their snippets in a larger basket on the art shelf that is later used for collage making.
Next on the shelf is the classic 'cutting on the line' and the endless variations. Please enjoy this free Montessori cutting PDF template and keep a master copy handy. We all know how quickly these can be used up!
Happy Teaching :)
P.S Henri Matisse Drawing with Scissors is a fabulous art book addition to your library!
